Taipei

Overall, Taiwan is considered a very safe travel destination, with low risks of crime, terrorism, and civil unrest. However, there has been ongoing tensions between China and Taiwan, which have increased due to Chinese military activities and incursions by China into Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), as well as the Taiwanese government’s stance toward its relationship to China.

Wider security and economic tensions between China and the United States have further contributed to these tensions. These tensions increase the risk of a Chinese invasion into Taiwan in the future. As a result, personnel with fixed or prolonged presence in Taiwan are advised to prepare emergency plans to evacuate the country prior to any invasion.
